FUNDING QUESTIONS:

Q.  Does Medicare or insurance pay for lifts or elevators?
A.  Medicare does not cover these expenses.  If you are covered by other supplemental insurance companies, we recommend contacting them with specific details for your circumstance.
Q.  Does Access Lifts work with state funded waivers and programs?
A.  Yes, Access Lifts has a Minnesota provider number and is able to bill MA direct.
GENERAL QUESTIONS:
Q.  What permits are required for installing lifts?
A.  Minnesota requires state elevator and electrical permits on all lifts....residential and commercial.  A local building permit is required for any additional construction work or remodeling. 
STAIR LIFT QUESTIONS:
Q.  Can a stair lift be installed in a church or a school?
A.  The state of Minnesota does not allow stair lifts in commercial buildings.  Churches and schools often choose to provide accessibility with a wheelchair lift or an elevator.
Q.  Can a stair lift be installed in a group home?
A.  Yes, if it is licensed to care for 6 or less people.  Any home licensed to care for over 6 people is considered commercial and must comply with the commercial codes.
